New Parent Checklist

New Parent Checklist

Posted by Megan Dillon on 17th Apr 2024

Becoming a parent is one of the most amazing things in life, but it can also bring a whirlwind of emotions. Many new parents find themselves asking “now what?” A tiny new human coming into the world brings a lot of questions and worries, especially if you are a first-time parent.

Let’s start with, have you considered choosing your travel system?

  • 1.What is a travel system?

A 3-in-1 travel system is simply a pushchair, carry cot, and a detachable car seat. The car seat attaches to the buggy by clicking or slotting it in or attaching via an adapter. The idea of a car seat is to make it easy to move your baby from car to buggy.

Which travel system do you choose?

When choosing a buggy, here are some of the main considerations to think about…

  • -How big is your car boot?
  • -Is the carry cot suitable for overnight sleeping?
  • -What type of surface will you be mainly using it on?
  • -How big the basket is?
  • -Does it grow with your family?
  • -Do you need a one-handed fold?

Some of our most popular travel systems are: iCandy Peach bundleVenicci UplineUppababy Vista & Noordi.

  • 2.Which car seat do you choose?

The car seat you’ll be choosing to go with your travel system is one that is suitable from birth. This will be a group 0+ (birth to around 15 months)

The car seat is usually one of your first purchases. When choosing a car seat, safety is the main priority when transporting your baby around. So, rather than buying a buggy and then a car seat as a second thought, it’s best to think about the car seat first.

We have FAQ’s on car seats here: FAQ's on Car Seats - Eurobaby that will cover everything you need to know.

  • 3.Which ISOFIX base do you choose?

So, what is an ISOFIX base?

  • -An ISOFIX base is an attachment that’s fitted directly to the chassis of your car and is placed on the back seat. This allows you to safely install your child’s car seat correctly by simply clicking the car seat on and lifting it off with either a lever or a button.
  • 4.Does my car have ISOFIX?

Most cars from 2006 have been equipped with ISOFIX, and in 2014 it became a legal requirement in Europe for all four-seater cars to be fitted with at least two ISOFIX points. To look for the points check the base and back of your car seats.

  • 5.Baby Sleep Essentials

For the past 10 months baby has been living and growing in the cosy space of your womb. It will be a tough one to top, but since baby will be sleeping a lot during their first few months, it makes sense to make sure their sleeping space is as cosy, safe and comfy as can be.

Look into to purchasing things like:
